Guest-led jams at the Twin City Ukulele Club are regular sessions featuring a special guest leader. These ukulele jams maintain a relaxed, come-as-you-are format, while adding the excitement of playing alongside an exceptional musician from the ukulele community.
Monday Evening Kenwood Jam
6:15pm to 7:45pm, Kenwood Community Center
This guest-led jam features the incredibly talented Rhonda Laurie (Smith). Although we might claim her as our own, Rhonda comes to us by way of New York City where she was raised among a "family of professional musicians and performers." She has studied vocal jazz with an impressive array of jazz singers and educators including Janet Lawson, Judy Neimack, Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton.
Rhonda's smooth vocal stylings have been featured at venues and festivals all across the Twin City area and beyond, including the Artists Quarter, Dakota Jazz Club, Patrick's Cabaret, Minnesota Fringe Festival and the Grand Marais Jazz Festival, among many others.
"Whether swinging a la gypsy, straight-ahead jazz, or cabaret, [Rhonda's] approach is modern and fresh, obscuring musical boundaries."
When not performing, Rhonda is kept busy offering vocal lessons. For inquiries and scheduling, please email her via this link. And for more information about Rhonda, please visit her website.
